8:51 you can also install a software to the Hard drive that allows you to basically do the same thing just without needing a memory card, software is called FHDB, and it's by the same developers as the memory card software and also uses a similar exploit. Also if you had used an original network adapter you could have used online play in games that support or adding games via FTP without needing to remove the hard drive, which is nice especially with the case mods that you're doing.

"Modern Game Boy"? Ridiculous. This is a GBA SP with commercially available mods and a new case, and the case isn't even a new idea! Hingeless GBA SP kits have been available for a few years now. People have made actual, new manufacture Game Boys, with new circuit boards and parts. This is not that.

If Your main worry regarding the wireless charging coil was thickness, why not place it behind the screen with only a circular protrusion sticking our from behind, so it does not get in the way of your fingers on the back bumpers? Sure, the screen would be thicker a bit, but the whole device would be just the same while You'd also gain an awesome piece of visual for the see-through case.

I would consider the removal of the link cable a downgrade, I mean if you are going to make the ultimate GameBoy, it better also be usable as a controller for the GameCube

I think if you would have OC'd the RAM and the iGPU instead of just juicing the power, you may have seen more gains.

You downgraded your powerswitch. They used a 0 backpressure switch asd a notch in the case and on the gray insert. This setup will technically never kill the switch with normal use.

You can simplify this setup a little bit further. Since the dji power 100 does usbc charging up to 140w you could get a usbc to that barrel connector for the projector, rather than the dc > ac > dc with the ac mains adapter.

I have a few solutions for your fan woes. You could add in a esp8266 or arduino with WiFi to control the fans. There is probably a way to share your system temps or fan speeds over your WiFi. And the reason why the fans are loud is because their speed is typically controlled by PWM. So constant power means constant speed. You could code in the pwm logic into the esp8266. Alternatively, there is probably somewhere on the dock board where you can tap into the usb data lines, and then have the fans come on only when it recognizes a usb handshake with the switch (it probably doesn’t do a handshake unless the switch is turned on). Final last challenge, can probably communicate with the switch using usb serial and get the temps from a running service on the switch

You might be able to make the pla clearer by brushing some clear epoxy onto both front and back and then sanding it back a bit.

Some rooting and serious overclock on the snapdragon would do good for performance.

Id really like to see someone replace that old screen with a new HD or UHD LCD or AMOLED screen. That would be pretty cool, Same size just HD with a digital converter so that the 8 bit looks less chunky and does a good job of coloring in all the details.

I will never defend the Steam Deck. The cheapest model just isn't good enough and the most expensive model is SHITE compared to the Z1 Extreme systems out there. I don't care how much optimisation it has it relies on your favourite games being popular enough to be optimised for it anyway....The Z1 Extreme offers SO much more. The Legion Go is everything the premium model of the steam deck should be....and the most expensive Deck should be what the cheapest model is

flat black spray paint relies on a few light coats for the effect to be done. the completed paint surface has to be porous to get it to be non-gloss. you likely added too many coats, too thick and too quickly. the combination prevented it from off gassing the solvents and allowed previous coats to mix together filling the intended porous finish.

SSD won't really be much faster if at all then 3.5 HDD on PS2. I still have my original adapter in mine with a modified board for SATA. I recently replaced the HDD on it with the GrimDoom OPL.
